SAAB will make their first vinyl outing this summer in the form of a split 7" with Adam Parkinson This release is an installment in a series of split 7"s being curated by Will Edmondes of Kakutopia/Falco Subbuteo/Hawks.
The track featured is a blend of home made electronics (Ian Watson) and Max MSP patches (Richard Bowers) and was recorded in the early part of 2010.

Western thunder blast! This is a very special wintertime mail collaboration between Cardiff’s Ian Watson (Sound of Aircraft Attacking Britain) and Bristol based dsic. Watson provided oddball mixer feedback outings and the results were churned/regurgitated back in Bristol nether-regions. The resulting dirge was split into two short sessions, the first easy/sleazy, the second as eyeball surgery. Phantom Dsic strays into some killer feedbacker territories and skuzz computing/electronics. The Phantom Scum cdr treads heavy water with cyclonic blasts of noise mayhem. Blackened vibes of doom ambient and digital gash bang heads in the best possible way. This is for fans of KTL, John Wiese, Kevin Drumm et al, and should thoroughly dispel the vibes of West Country/Welsh mellow good-times.
Disc one comes in black as ash card-packaging with weirdo digital-realist gloss art. Disc two in an obsidian-mirror clamshell, just like John Dee intended. Limited to 50 copies.

- 21st October. S>A>A>B> presents a twelve-hour-long performance exploring the regions of Hell; the nine 'circles' of Dante's poem Inferno. These concentric circles, leading to the centre of Hell, shape the nine movements of Darkness Visible through which S>A>A>B> perform on acoustic instruments, radios, computers and electronics: a slow-moving tapestry of sound and vision. Mastered and ready for dressing-up nice is the first in a series of collaborative releases. This is a set of recordings improvised over 2 dates in 2005 between Myself and Richard Bowers (SAAB)...... Before SAAB met it's recent band type format.
7 tracks based around circuit bent Casio SK1's and electric guitar. Recorded late in 2005. Muddy glitch-loops and relentless, shimmering soundscapes.

Soon: PH session 3 Mark Jolliffe and Ian Watson. Light finger picked guitar and softened feedback wading through a swamp of glitches and explosions across open circuitry.

Sonic Arts Network Expo 2007/Forthcoming

The Sound of Aircraft Attacking Britain have been shortlisted to play at the Sonic Arts Network Expo in Plymouth this June. We will be performing at 'The Hub' nightclub on the 23rd and are looking to get involved in other events whilst we are there so get in touch .

We are also mastering tracks for a new video, and 2 drone tracks (perhaps drone isn't the word but what they lack in percussion they make-up in huge swells) which were recorded in the run-up to our most recent show at Jacuzzi Junta, this should have been a calming affair, but as it happened - all drones into the mouth of the beast, tracks that were sent to expell the shit from our ears for the sake of 15 minutes bliss -

Instant Mix: We're also getting on the case for Professor Bower's (s)mash PureData style productions - We are setting-up to produce 100xCDr's. Each one entirely independent, 'random' (as in computer random, not pure magick random) variations on a huge pool of music which we recorded late last year, plans include individual artwork for each of the 100 CDr's. We will report back with confirmation on this project.

We were the second act and unfortunately had to make an early exit from the venue so only got to see 2 other performances but it was great to be playing somewhere new and to get a glimpse of the scene across the water.

Just before the New Year we spent a day recording some new stuff at Warwick Hall, this allowed us to try some new methods (Beautiful and sometimes harrowing processed responses to drums and multiple guitars) and test old ones (megaphone loops/dictaphone fighting feedback and Nanoloop} which will form the basis for a CD to be finished over the next couple of months at the most capable hands of Richard Bowers (Sound of Aircraft Attacking Britain).

We have some rehearsal time coming-up and hopefully that will double as recording time.
The DVD we are producing has taken a back seat for the time being.
That said we would like to provide a decent quality Quicktime of the Experimentica performance along with supporting images and documents as a means of application to any sonic art/music/cinema events that are coming-up in the new year. Those of you who are a little more environmentally conscious may wish to view the performance via Bowers' site (link at right of page).

Just finished our second trip out, this time for the film Noir themed Jacuzzi Junta.
Massive thanks to Nic, Anne, Debbie and Jon for putting the night on, it is such a neccesary platform for fresh entertainment in Cardiff and hosts the greatest diversity in players you could expect to see in one night!.

Guitar Noir / Drum Vertigo

On Saturday night we will be appearing at Chapter for Jacuzzi Junta's film Noir themed event - see: http://www.jacuzzi-junta.org/.
This is also the official party night for the Cardiff film festival.
The Video element of our set will be 1 projection controlled by either drums or guitar (probably guitar at this point, courtesy of Bowers} and relies on shots from Hitchcock's Neo Noir masterpiece Vertigo - we hope to see you there.

Performance: Experimentica, October 2006

Experimentica, Chapter, Cardiff, 14th October 2006.... So in this instance the action takes place on 2 projection screens and a series of monitors. Each player has control of the images projected and displayed via note values or switches supplied by their instruments. In this case Guitars and drums, this may change in future to suit the venue. The video imagery is altered over time so that the choice of images displayed reflects the musical direction. Each player is in control of chosen video banks and therefore each player decides when their sonic output has moved into new territory and how or when the video follows this direction. Previously this experiment had only been undertaken on a smaller, domestic scale using television sets and computer monitors.
